Story

I want to share with you my experience of walking on fire for Fawcett. I was determined I could do it, I knew I would do it,  and I did it – if anything, it was too easy (I walked over the coals 5 times, until I was told to stop so they could put the fire out at the end). More exciting than the fire walk for me, though, was the arrow breaking, a “warming up” exercise during our half hour training:

The trainer showed us a long strong wooden arrow, with a metal tip which was pointed but not sharp. He placed the tip at his throat and the other end against the wall, he pushed with his throat and broke it. We were invited to volunteer and I did (the first of the first 10 volunteers). I put the tip against my throat and started pushing against the wall. It hurt a bit and I thought: “this is crazy, I can’t do that!”, but then I said to myself, “it can be done, I’ve seen it done; if the trainer can do it, so can I”; I told myself: “just do it Electra”, and I  focused on pushing, and I pushed until the arrow broke.  It was so exciting!
