William Thyne sadly passed away last year due to a horrific cancerous disease called Osteosarcoma. William was the closest of friends to us all and went to school with some of us and lived with us at Newcastle University. Everybody who knows William is in complete awe of his bravery and approach to his illness. He was a shining example to all. He was only 22 years of age.
William's sudden and terminal illness shocked many friends and families. By raising sufficient funds, in memory of William Thyne, we aim to increase the awareness of this cancerous disease, improve the enhance the treatment procedure and limit the number of potential future victims.
All the proceeds obtained from our Endurance Week are going directly to the Borders General Hospital, where there is vital need for a new CT/MRI suite. To have an MRI scanner permanently situated at the Borders General Hospital will help reduce waiting times, create faster access for scans and cut down on the inconvenient long journeys that some cancer patients currently have to make to other hospitals.
Our team of 5 are completing a gruelling 3-event 'Endurance Week' and have been in serious training.
This challenge includes: 1. A 10 mile Super Swim in a Scottish loch - May 28th 2. Completing the 3-Peak Challenge in 24 hours - May 29th 3. The Stockholm Marathon - June 4th We ask you to seriously consider this extremely worthwhile cause, which is very close to our hearts. Many thanks for your support.
