Story

Current donations of £886 + £210 of Gift aid = £1,096 with the Mouchel Contribution of £886 = £1,982.

From Water Aid

'just £15 to provide one person with safe water and sanitation for life so if you have raised £1,982 that’s 132 people- this is such an incredible contribution!

Other examples are:

£1,950

could pay to construct a hand dug well with hand pump in

£2,000

could pay for two pumps suited to deep wells, ( ie where the water table is very low) in

£2,000

could pay for the construction of a hand dug well, fitted with a hand pump, which will provide clean water for approximately 400 people in

I look forward to hearing the final amount raised and will of course be in touch with a certificate and proper thank you letter when the money from Mouchel comes in.

Best wishes,

Holly

Thank you so much for all your support - as you can see from the photo I managed to finish in an Ironman PB of 10:34:57.  I was a little bit relieved to finish as you can see.

The swim was brutal with arms and legs connecting with me all the way through. I came out of the water in 1:05, The bike was really hilly and hot but the scenary was awesome going passed snow capped mountains.  I managed to hold 20mph to finish the bike in a respectable in 5:28 and my position was 703 overall.  I suffered on the run in 32 degrees of heat and boy was that tough! Howeve, I took over 220 places and finish the run in a time of 3:51.  What a great experience!

My legs still hurt but overall it was worth the pain.

Will I do it again? - not sure  - happy to go shorter distance next year

More photos to follow.

Thanks again for all your support it really meant a lot to me - it really helped on the huge hills on the bike and 3/4 of the way through the marathon!

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

This years challenge is the ultimate physical challenge, a gruelling Ironman triathlon in Austria on 5th July 2009.

Please note that Mouchel will match fund all donations £1 for £1!

This is no ordinary event - I start with 2,500 other athletes on a  2.4mile swim, followed by a 112mile cycle then a marathon (and I don't mean a retro chocolate bar!!)  I have been preparing for the race for the last 18 months and I hope to complete it in just over 10 hours.

I will be ramping my training up to 14 hours per week which has to be fitted around my job and family life.  Many thanks to Mouchel for their support in allowing me to do this crazy challenge.

'Normal limits don't apply. Having previously completed two Ironman races I have been bitten by the Ironbug! I have set myself an achievable, but impressive, task of completing the event in just over 10 hours. I wouldn't have been able to do this without the full support of my wife, family, coach, friends and Mouchel. I would be honoured if my colleagues would donate something to the cause, no matter how much. This event will test me to the full but, as Lance Armstrong says, 'pain is only temporary, quitting is forever'. This will be my mantra in the darker moments of the race.'

I am completing this event for Water Aid as it provides water, sanitation and hygiene education to some of the world's poorest people.  I can only do this with your help and support which will spur me through the training and race day itself.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: WaterAid gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now! Thanks for your support

Thanks, Eric
