Story
Hello all,
A small group of colleagues from National Grid have got together to raise some money for Heart Research. The formation of FC Copenbadly in March brought together Claire Gumbley, Harps Kaur, Paul Gallagher and Richard Wilson. The aim is to raise as much money as possible for our charity whilst all achieving a significant personal challenge.
In selecting the challenge we all wanted something that would stretch us beyond our comfort zone but was still viable. Due to the years of neglect that two members of the team have under their belt (together with a couple of spare tyres), it had to be an activity that comes naturally to most people.
Walking ! That must be something that we could do.
The Yorkshire Three Peaks, that sounds like a pleasant walk in a beautiful environment. How hard can it be? three little hills and a stroll between. Then we looked in more depth as to what was involved. No one said that there were mountains in Yorkshire, and don’t they provide a bus service to get us from one mountain to another ?!
Needless to say, the 26 miles and over 1500m vertical climb involved with hitting the summits of Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough are going to provide us all with the challenge we wanted. So please all dig deep and give generously to force us up a steep road to fitness and to ensure we can make a realcontribution to heart research.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Heart Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support.
Claire, Harps, Paul and Richard
