Story
Welcome to the Fells' Angels fundraising page.
For those of you who don't know us, we are: Julie Norman, Tracy Park, Fiona Williams, Rachel Wilson and Julie Carter.
West Cumbrian visitors will hopefully have read about us in the local newspapers. Anyone who hasn't seen the articles can use the following internet address to access one of them: http://www.whitehaven-news.co.uk/news/viewarticle.aspx?id=496707 (check out all the flowing locks - surely worthy of some sponsorship from a shampoo company).
We've been planning our Bob Graham Round relay for months. We're training hard and determined to cover the 42 summits, 74 miles and 28,500ft of ascent (600ft more and we'd have scaled Everest!) within 24 hours.
On warm, sunny days we look forward to it, but on the more typically Cumbrian days - when low, black clouds lurk, full of horrors - we get nervous, very nervous! To find out how our training is going, check out our blog in the Times and Star (http://forums.timesandstar.co.uk/index.php?s=383a984845de5478f4f6589b8040ec6b&automodule=blog).
One thing that's really taken us by surprise is the phenomenal response we've had to our challenge. Things have snowballed since the article in The Times and Star. A BBC reporter has been in touch and wants to film us in action on Latrigg next week. Radio Cumbria is after an interview. And Crosby's fish and chip shop in Whitehaven has paid for our Fells Angels t-shirts.....
We're really hoping that all this publicity will help generate mountains of money for West Cumbria Hospice at Home. We're going to approach lots of local shops and companies but are also hoping that you, family, friends and members of the public, will sponsor us.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: West Cumbria Hospice At Home will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support.
