Story
As many of you will have heard, I was recently sponsored to shave my head in order to raise money for the charity Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. Their research into these blood cancers has helped modern medicine take huge leaps forward in finding cures and treatments for the diseases. Only with public support can they continue their fantastic work and so any small contribution from individuals is important.
The 'inspiration' for this event was taken from when my friend and hairdresser since childhood, John Rycroft, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). It will never ease the pain of those who know people with blood cancers but contributing towards fundraising is the least we can do to go some way towards helping those worse off than ourselves. Thank you for your support and thank you for making the event itself such a fantastic day. For those of you were unable to make it, please check out the photos on this page, you will be pleased to hear that there were almost 400 spectators and we raised an extra £300 on the day just in loose change donations.
Sadly John passed away on the 23rd of December. He asked that instead of flowers being given that donations are made to The Bright Red Appeal (Leukaemia) at the Freeman Road Hospital Newcastle. Thank you once again to those who donated to the head shave and to those who continue to donate.
From January 24th-March 24th I will be deactivating my Facebook account to raise awareness for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. Please join me and help spread the word about the fantastic work done by Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
