Story
The Glasgow Ophthalmology Revision Course for finals is now in its third year. This year it takes place on Saturday 15th January 2011 from 9am till 5pm at the St Andrew’s Building, Gibson Street, Lecture theatre 213. Attendance at the course costs £20 and there are a maximum of 80 places (first come first served). If the list here is full please don't sign up but you could get in touch with the organiser Marilena (gregoryme25@yahoo.co.uk) to see if she can fit you in.
The course features a run through of basic ocular anatomy, common cases for finals, how to examine the visual system and then has 5 mock OSCE stations where you will get to practice measuring visual acuity, testing visual fields and cranial nerves, testing eye movements, assessing pupils and using the direct ophthalmoscope in small groups with supervision by ophthalmologic specialists. All of this is followed by a summary quiz to assess your knowledge and an open session where you can clear up any confusion and bring along EMQ's for discussion.
All of the course fees are donated to the Fiona Dolan Fund which was set up in memory of a former specialist registrar in Ophthalmology. It aims to contribute to the improvement of eye health in developing countries by supporting trained eye professionals to travel to developing countries to improve eye health through a range of activities including cataract and trachoma surgery camps.
