Story

Hi Everyone …

I have committed myself doing this 10k run after an evening out and a little drink! As many of you know I work for a firm of solicitors, Simpson Millar LLP, who are involved in assisting the Communication Workers Union Humanitarian Aid (CWUHA) charity.   Information on the charity is at the bottom left hand corner of the fund raising page.

Mandy, who I work with is going on the convoy in September to Transnistria inEastern Europe, so I thought I would try and assist her by raising some money.   The vehicles are donated and all drivers time is volunteered.  The aid is delivered directly to hospitals, families, orphanages and a centre for mentally and physically disabled children.   The aid (which your donations will go towards) is in the form of medical equipment, toys, clothes, games and even things like seeds so they can grow their own vegetables.   There is virtually no social structure  (ie in the form of Social Services) and this aid is essential to give the children the care and assistance they deserve and a little bit of fun in the form of the toys and games.

I know times are tough but if you could give a little I would be very grateful. Just think about me running 10K …. That should give you a laugh if nothing else!

After going on the convoy in 2005 Mandy said from her convoy report “The only saving grace is that you had to feel gratified and thankful that we had brought a little happiness and laughter to those we had met and that the convoy will be returning next year.”
