Hi Everyone, thank you for looking at my page.
In June 2010 I am off to Tanzania with Beth and Emily to climb Kilimanjaro and volunteer with Tanzanian children.
We are trying to raise £2,800 each for the charity COCO (Comrades of Children Overseas - Registered Charity Number SC030428). The website for more information is http://www.coco.org.uk/home
COCO provides much needed education and healthcare provisions to children not only in Africa but in Eastern Europe too. The work they do makes a massive difference to families living in poverty in the developing world.
The money I raise will go towards a project in Tanzania, providing secondary school education to young people. Currently only primary school education is free and many families cannot afford to pay tuition fees to further their children's education.
After 8 days of trekking,so long as we can still walk, we will be visiting some of COCO's projects and volunteering, teaching at a local secondary school.
As I sometimes find the hills in Durham tiring, an 8 day trek to the summit of one of the highest mountains in the world will be a massive challenge... I know we're all watching the pennies but anything you give will help massively. We each have a lot to raise so if anyone feels able to donate I would be very grateful.
