Their goal
SpecialEffect are a charity who want to enable severely disabled people to use computers, utilising whatever parts of their body work best. They hope this will help vital inclusion for the less able-bodied.
Their solution
Each year SpecialEffect organise a 24-hour gaming marathon, GameBlast, bringing together the gaming community in a combined effort to raise as much money and awareness for their cause as possible. Gamers can connect via Twitch and play, stream and donate to each other to help the Campaign during the event, creating a sense of community and a truly global mass-participation event in the process.
Their success
Thanks to the efforts of gamers across the world, 405 fundraisers managed to raise a massive £224,000. Fundraising teams including businesses, gaming companies, and professional gamers all joined in to help make it possible for everyone to enjoy gaming.
