Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For those who don't know, Atrial Fibrillation (A-Fib) is an irregular heart rythmn (arrhythmia) that can lead to blood clots in the heart. A-Fib increases the risk of stroke, heart failure and other heart related issues. It affects around 1.4 million people in the UK.
I have had A-Fib since I was about 17 and have had 3 seperate attempts at cardioversion (restarting the heart). However, after a while my heart goes back into arrhythmia. I'm not particularly symptomatic of A-Fib and I otherwise lead a normal life.
Although I'm an active person, I am not a runner. So the challenge for me will be to condition myself and get used to running a steady pace.
I have always wanted to run a Marathon but have been cautious because of A-Fib. Therefore I'm not looking to beat a time...merely to make it to the end.
Your generous donations will help provide support, information, education and awareness to all those affected by or involved in the care of individuals with Atrial Fibrillation, this includes funding the patient helpline, patient resources, updating the website and funding the patient \ HCP events.
