Story

On Sunday 13th June, Dennis and I will be taking part in 'Sheer Heaven vs Shere Hell' - a bike ride in aid of the medical research charity Sparks. There are two possible rides, Heaven or Hell, and Dennis and I have chosen 'Hell' - a 63 mile / 100 km trip over Surrey's toughest climbs - if you're gonna do it, then make it the most painful you can! Pity is always good for loosening the purse strings!!

For those of you with good memories, you'll remember that we did this last year. We survived, despite a crash (into each other!) in the last ten miles which broke Dennis' bicycle seat, making it a little uncomfortable for him!! So why do it again? Well, Sparks still need your help and we think the extra 13 miles that we're doing this time around deserves a little extra support as well!

OK, so it's not the Tour de France, but what will you be doing Sunday morning at 10am?! We think that fact alone deserves a little of your time, encouragement, and if you can manage it, a bit of relief for your wallets!

We're lucky, we have two beautiful, healthy children. Everything turned out well for us, but this isn't everyone's story. By supporting Sparks you can make this a very real possibility for all families. Did you know that approximately 1 in 30 babies in the UK are born with a health condition that will affect them, and their families for the rest of their lives. Spark's mission is to help all babies be born healthy and stay healthy - and we think that's a pretty good place to start.

So, please, give what you can.....and spare a little thought for Dennis and I as we take on the Surrey countryside!

By the way....Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: SPARKS gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

About the charity

Sparks raises money to fund pioneering child health research across the UK, helping to find new treatments and cures for children and families who desperately need them.
