Story
Hi, we're Fran and Emma - we work for the League Against Cruel Sports.
We're doing the 2.6 challenge to raise money for the League, as these uncertain times hit charities across the UK very hard. The 2.6 challenge encourages people to fundraise for UK charities on the 26th April (this Sunday) - which should have been the date for the 2020 London Marathon (twopointsixchallenge.co.uk).
Our personal 2.6 challenge will involve us doing 26 exercises, 26 times (from our own homes - we're not meeting up during lockdown, don't worry!)
Any donation would be greatly appreciated. If you have a spare £26p, £2.60 or £12.60 - any donation is amazing.
The exercises will be (if anyone is interested!):
- Squats
- Burpees
- Inchworms
- Mountain climbers
- Jumping jacks
- Skaters
- Corkscrews
- Bicycle crunches
- Straight leg crunches
- Fire hydrants
- Russian twists
- In and outs
- U boats
- Side plank crunches
- Hip dips
- Up and down planks
- Spider man planks
- 100s
- Crunches
- Heel taps
- Alt jack knife
- Roll ups
- Flutters
- Semi circle crunches
- Jog on spot
- Squat with crunches
Note from Fran - please bear in mind that one of us (*ahem* me *ahem*) is significantly less fit than the other. So this should be interesting!
About the League:
The League (www.league.org.uk) is one of the UK's best-loved and most influential animal protection charities. At the League, we're probably best known for helping bring in the Hunting Act which made it illegal to hunt foxes and other wild mammals with dogs.
- We investigate animal cruelty, often working at great risk, exposing and helping to bring to justice those behind illegal hunting and dog-fighting.
- We campaign for stronger animal protection laws, and have successfully seen off attempts to weaken the hunting ban
- We educate members of the public, government officials and elected representatives across the UK so that they better understand the ways in which animals benefit us all – and the ways in which they are cruelly treated
- We protect hundreds of thousands of animals including foxes, badgers, deer and hares in our wildlife sanctuaries and areas where we own the 'sporting' rights, covering thousands of acres.
About the 2.6 challenge:
Help save the UK's Charities! General fundraising has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income.
