TOFS offers support to people born with Tracheo-Oesophageal Fistula (TOF) and/or Oesophageal Atresia (OA). These are rare congenital malformaltions of the gullet and windpipe. Immediate neonatal surgery is a treatment, not a complete cure. We are UK-based and receive no public-sector support at all.

Story

Three peaks? To easy I said. Lets cycle between them I said. Bloomin idiot they said!

My son was born with a little known condition called Tracheo Oesophageal Fistula with assosciated Oesophageal Atresia (or TOF/OA if you find that a bit of a mouthful)! This means that his food and windpipe got all plumbed in back to front and sideways and needed 8 operations to fix it and enable him to eat/drink/swallow and breath. The charity I am raising for help parents of these children through the difficult times that they face. We consider ourselves lucky because our son had a relatively minor condition to repair (8 operations of minor) and the charity also supports families with kids who are a lot worse off than us with all kinds of associated nasty complications and I think they do a great job.

The Three Peaks Challenge is to climb the 3 highest mountains in the British isles (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike & Snowdon) in under 24 hours driving between them. I figured it might be more interesting/challenging to cycle between the mountains (540 miles) over a 10 day period in June 2011 (3 days climbing, 7 days cycling at an average of 77 and a bit miles a day). Completely self sufficient, with no support team carrying all my own camping kit, food and clothing. Check out my blog http://www.threepeaksonabike.blogspot.com/

I didn't think this was good enough soooo...

I'm entering THE GRIM (name says it all really) http://www.grimchallenge.co.uk/ on the 4th of December. Check it out, it doesn't look pleasant! 8 miles off road running in the middle of winter across tank testing tracks, through mud puddles, under cammo nets etc, yuck!

I still didn't think this was enough soooo...

I'm entering the Fleet half marathon and running 13 odd miles for a bit of a laugh!
