About me
Hi, I'm Freddie, I am 12 years old, I live in Sheffield, l and I love doing sports.
When I'm not doing sports I like to help Guide Dogs. As a family we look after Guide Dog puppies during their first year, training them, giving them a home and giving then lots of cuddles. I also help fund raising for Guide Dogs in any way I can, I have completed loads of events and also help with the local Guide Dog fund raising branch with collections and events such as fairs and collections.
With my mum and dad we have boarded a total of 13 GD in training or as puppies and at the moment we are puppy walking our third Guide Dog puppy Betty, who is very cute!
About the challenge
This challenge we are planning is going to be my biggest and best yet! Next year me and dad will be cycling 150km across the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. We will be riding across the mud tracks, Berber villages and through forest. As its August the temperatures will be up to 40 degrees!
The challenge will take about 6 days and we will be camping out in the wild overnight, trying to avoid snakes and scorpians.
There are some massive hills to climb with the 2 longest days having inclines of over 600m - more than riding up Snowdon!
Previous fundraising
Some of the fundraisers I have completed are:
2011 - mini great north run
2012 - mini great north run
2013 - mini great south run
2014 - Blindfold drive
2015 - 100km trek across the Sahara Desert over 4 days camping in the desert.
Although I fundraise just to earn money for the charity, I have been very lucky to win some awards for my fundraising;
2015:
- Pride of Rugby 'Young Achiever Award'
- Guide Dogs People Awards 'Passionate and Determined'
- Guide Dogs People Awards 'Overall Younger Volunteer of the Year'
- Kids count 'Inspire the House Award' runner-up (held at the houses of Parliament'
2016:
- Gold Blue Peter badge
Guide Dogs help blind and partially sighted people and I love the thought that I can help a charity that changes peoples lives.
Please sponsor me to help my dream of raising lots of money come true. Did you know it costs £50,000 for a Guide Dog in its whole life, but only costs 50p for an owner to have a guide dog?
