Story

Freddy has been receiving treatment every week since he was just 11 days old at the children’s department at the Nuffield hospital. He was born with a condition called bilateral talipes which meant his feet were born in an inward position. Without this specialised treatment, he would never be able to walk. After many months in casts, weekly visits to the hospital to have these changed, and 3 operations, he is finally in boots and bar which are maintaining the correction and we are on the home straight! Although he will need to wear the boots when he sleeps until he is 5 years old and continue with physiotherapy at the Nuffield throughout childhood.

Having casts taken off and new ones put on each week is a very stressful time for babies and children who have this condition and for other children who have other conditions (and their parents!!!). We would like to help ease this stress by raising money towards some IPads that the babies and children can use whilst this treatment is taking place! The art of distraction definitely works and allows the amazing staff to work their magic in treating the children.

The staff at both the Nuffield and the JR have been so supportive so it would be amazing to be able to support them in their work. And also make it a little easier for children who are regularly receiving treatment.
