We help families in Nepal to improve the lives of disabled/poor kids

Story

In January 2015, our lives were forever changed on a journey of a lifetime travelling through Nepal. We were enamored by the scenic beauty, but more importantly we were instantly struck by the amazing kindness, strength and open-heartedness of the Nepali people.

While in Kathmandu we had the honour of visiting the MySmallHelp Marybert orphanage and school. We shared the most wonderful day eating momos, singing, and dancing with these amazing children and caregivers and vowed that when we returned to Canada we would do whatever we could to help out our new Nepali family.

In our fundraising efforts we are joined by our friend Olga who had a similar experience of the people and culture while trekking in Nepal, and returned to Canada just days before the devastating earthquake, her incredible journey still so fresh in her mind. The three of us are bound together by a passionate need to give back to the people who have given so much to us.

MySmallHelp (MSH) was founded by a group of friends in the UK and Nepal and since 2007 operates as a registered Nepali NGO.

MySmallHelp's vision is to provide immediate assistance to people in need while working together to develop a long-term sustainable income plan through education and skills training.

Marybert School & Orphanage was started in 2002 in Kathmandu and has been supported by MSH since 2007. The goal of the school is to provide education to children who come from poor families, and/or who are abandoned or orphaned. The school provides education for children aged 2-14 yrs. MSH sponsorship guarantees 26 children in Marybert Orphanage are provided with a safe home, good education and nutritious food.

In addition to their work in the orphanage, MSH staff also work with vulnerable families in rural Nepal, helping them with basic needs and rebuilding basic infrastructure.

When news of the devastating earthquake came to us on April 25th, 2015 we were shocked and saddened by what had happened. The three of us felt it is our time to step up and help our Nepali brothers and sisters.

We are urging you to donate to MySmallHelp. We have seen firsthand how a little goes a long way in Nepal.

Our friends at MSH are currently assessing the situation, both at the Marybert orphanage and in outlying villages in order to decide where best to invest time and money. Your funds will go to emergency relief efforts like food, clothing and shelter in the rural villages, as well as long term planning, building and repairs.

As we get information, we will be updating you on were your donation goes and the progress of the fundraising situation.

Please help us make a difference. Your contribution means the world to us.
