Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page... Please take the time to read my story!

My name is Glenn Burgess... I'm a Personal Trainer from Whitstable with a passion for running & triathlon.

I love to be challenged which is why I take part in triathlon.
When I was 35 I set myself the goal of completing an Ironman Triathlon before I turned 40.
For the past 4 years I have trained hard & increased the distances I compete at until this year I completed my first Iron Distance triathlon at The Outlaw... Although not an official Ironman event, it covers the same distances (2.4m swim, 112m bike, 26.2m run) within the same 17 hour cutoff time.

Along the way I have found a love for running & medals... As part of my training I completed my first marathon in 2014.
On the eve of my 39th Birthday I have now completed 28 marathons (within a 19 month period) & have set myself a new challenge!

I will complete 100 marathons (in total) before my 40th Birthday on 15th December 2016... That's 72 marathons in 12 months!

I have planned my race calendar for the next 12 months to accomplish this & more... As I said, "I love to be challenged", so I have included some tough challenges, both physical & mental... Here are some of the highlights:

  • A marathon completed on a running track (105.5 laps)
  • 2 marathons in the same day
  • Ironman Wales... one of the toughest in the World
  • Samphire 100 (100 mile Ultra Marathon)... 100 miles on foot in under 32 hours
  • 10 marathons in 10 days

I'm sure you'll agree, this is gonna be an amazing accomplishment which is why I wanted to do something good for a great cause... The Pilgrims Hospice do great work, providing specialist care to patients & families across East Kent... Although I've never been on the receiving end of their care, I know people who have & really want to support a local charity.

I dedicate the next 72 marathons & my 40th Year to The Pilgrims Hospice, in the hope that I can give something back & help make a difference!

Thanks for taking the time to read this... Please show your support for a great cause & a tough challenge by donating!!

I will be keeping a detailed account of my training & racing on my Facebook page:

Give it a like, follow my progress & give me some encouragement... I'm really grateful for all your support!!
