Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. The longest Tennis match in History was at Wimbledon and lasted a whopping 11 hours and 6 minutes . My Challenge on 30th September is to play for a non stop 12 hours , beating this record .
I have always been a reasonably fit person , always playing sport and always busy with DIY. It was a shock when I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease and suddenly found myself unable to mow the lawn or at one point pick up the kettle to make tea (a disaster as I love tea!) .Playing with my 2 super little boys became very tricky which was so unfair on them. It has been a challenging 6 years. I have been looked after brilliantly by the staff at the JR (and my wonderful wife). They have helped with lots of different drug treatments , surgery and physio. Now I am back to playing tennis and more DIY . I am not quite the force I was , however the alternative would be a disaster. My chosen charity provides excellent support for research into Crohn's and was instrumental in the formation of specialist nurses. These nurses are a real life line for sufferers . They are always on hand to deal with any issues and offer invaluable reassurance when needed.
Crohn's can have devastating effects, particularly on young people.I hope that my challenge will not only raise much needed money for the charity but will also show fellow sufferers, perhaps newly diagnosed or post surgery that it is possible with perseverance , care and support to get back to a place that's pretty normal .
Thankyou for reading my story .
A massive thanks in advance to my friends for helping me with this challenge.
