Story
In 2016, David Eales helped me take over and organise a low-pressure charity ride from London to Amsterdam. Sadly that summer he was taken from us very suddenly by Stevens Johnson Syndrome.
I'm taking on this challenge in support of the London Cycling Campaign; because I met David while volunteering alongside him at our local branch of the LCC. They're working to make cycling in London safer and more enjoyable for all, to help tackle the climate emergency and improve the quality of life of Londoners.
I only knew David for the last two years of his life, but he was such an amazing person that he felt like a best friend to everyone. The first ride in 2016 was mostly formed at his wake, and we continue to dedicate the event to his memory.
We had to pause the ride during the past two years due to the persistent effects of the pandemic, but 2022 is the year we get back on the saddle and ride for safer streets in London!
