Story

URGENT APPEAL – GETTING THROUGH IT TOGETHER

The coronavirus pandemic is creating unique challenges for people living with sight loss and our pioneering research. Lockdown risks bringing our research to a standstill, just as we were getting close to discovering new treatments. We need your help now.

We need an additional £15,000 a week if we are to get our researchers back to the lab and achieve our aim of developing a new treatment for the leading cause of blindness.

I am Chair of the Warwickshire Committee and our 26th Annual Golf Day at Stoneleigh Deer Park
Golf Club is postponed  This normally raises between £10,000-£20,000, therefore, to try and help, we have come up with a couple of ideas:-

The first being Golf Fore Sight, played on own choice of course.

Donate £10 on this page (one person can pay for group if preferred)

  • Golf to be played between Wednesday 1st
    – Saturday 1st August
2020 (please confirm date nearer the time).
  • Email events4sight@gmail.com for golf card and register names
  • 18 hole stableford competition
(hopefully courses will allow 18 by start date if not then please enter for 9
    holes),
  • Email or whatsapp/text photo of card after
    your round to 07866510959
  • Live announcement of winners on Wednesday 5th August 2020
  • To help raise more awareness of our
charity please post on my Friends of Debbie Facebook page @debsforsight, Tweet photos/comments adding @Golfbirdie01 #GolfFORESight.
  • Instagram its @golfbirdee

Our 2nd Fundraiser is Putt FORE Sight which non-golfers can join in too – all you need is a putter, 3 balls and a blindfold!

  • Measure a distance of 2.6 metres on your
    lounge carpet
  • Place a £10 note at one end and stand
    2.6 metres away
  • Ask a family member or friend to set up
    video on phone
  • Have 3 golf balls close by, get set up
    then place blindfold on
  • Try to land your ball fully on the tenner to beat the challenge.
  • After first putt you can check how you
got on then cover eyes again
  • After the 3 attempts if you are successful  WELL DONE!  Then please post the video for our Roll of Honour
  • If not successful then please say to the
camera “I wasn’t successful so I would like to donate £……. to Fight for Sight and
    I nominate …………………………..”
  • Nominate as many people as you like and
    share your video
  • To help raise more awareness of our
charity please post on my Friends of Debbie Facebook page @debsforsight, Tweet photos/comments adding @Golfbirdie01 #PuttFORESight.  – more links to follow
Good luck to everyone and remember to follow the government guidelines at all times.   We can get through this together - stay safe
