Glasgow Kiltwalk 2023 · 30 April 2023 ·

We have a community safe place and workshop - the lack of a toilet is making it hard to fully operate. In time this space will be used to assist with isolation & learning life skills.

Story

A number of our Scout Troop are participating in this years Kiltwalk on Sunday 30th April. We will be raising funds for a local Giffnock Charity - The Black Door Shop & Giffnock Community Hub (story below).

A number of our Scouts regularly help out on a Saturday morning at the Black Door Shop doing an early morning litter pick.

We started the Black Door Shop & Giffnock Community Hub in 2015 where children's clothes & toys are donated and given to members of the community. Today we collect and supply up to two van loads ever week of clothes & household items for asylum seekers and refugees living locally. We provide local youth organisations the opportunity to help protect the environment through Saturday morning litter picks - earning Saltire Points along the way. We have created an area where life learning skills can be shared and have a workshop area where items can be repaired. We are all about reuse but the lack of toilet facilities is making it difficult for us to operate fully.
