Story

My wife, Claire Louise Reed, loved life and lived it to the max. She was a beautiful, intelligent, loving, bubbly and caring person. Claire was taken from us suddenly on 9th March 2013 aged just 22, as a result of of SADS (Sudden Adult Death Syndrome), which takes the lives of atleast 12 other young adults a week.

Thanks to you, we have already raised over £5k in Claire's memory. This is used as core funding for CRY, which funds fast track Coroner/Pathology service, awareness of SADS in the country, fast track screening service and screening clinics, bereavement support and on-going research in young cardiac deaths.

We have decided to 'ring fence' funds going forwards to arrange a mass screening in the Southern region. Currently the closest clinic to Southampton is St. George Hospital in London. This screening is likely to be a 1-2 day session and will enable people to visit a local establishment (TBA) to go for an ECG and an Echo screening if required.

We appreciate we cannot keep asking the same community to dig in their own pockets, so now it is time to rally to all those close to us to help us raise funds for this worthwhile cause. Just £5-10 sponsor per walker/runner/supporter would make a great start to funding the mass screening session, but if you would like to come down to show your support, please do!

The Eastleigh Parkrun is a FREE 5km distance run/jog/walk in the old Fleming Park golf course, Eastleigh. It is a run that Claire did on a couple of occasions to keep herself fit and healthy. Anyone can turn up to the park run on the day (to run or support), and it begins at 9am. However I would advise turning up around 15-20 minutes early to get warmed up.

You can also sign up officially to the run on http://www.parkrun.org.uk/eastleigh/, this will give you a barcode to print off (bring this along with you on the day) and it will officially record your time & position on the website.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

There will be pink t-shirts, with Claire's picture and CRY on them which will be available from a local supplier at a discounted rate (will announce this in the next few days). Press may well be present, so if you purchase a t-shirt or not, lets make it a sea of pink runners for Claire!

Thank you all for your overwhelming support, it really has been very touching.
