Kashmir Orphan’s Home
At Orphans in Need, they believe that children should have the best start in life. They want to help orphans become model citizens with access to the same resources and life opportunities as their peers. Their mission is to set up a network of high quality orphan’s homes with a strong foundation to provide the highest level of care and education – just like our ground breaking Orphans Village in Delhi, which has set the highest standard in care for hundreds of orphans.
Why Kashmir?
- 600,000 orphans in Kashmir due to decades of war, most of them living in extreme poverty.
- 80% of the orphans drop out of education after High School.
- Because of poverty, many widows are forced to give up their children to poorly run orphanages. These orphanages struggle to provide basic care to their children.
- There are over 40,000 widows in Kashmir.
Their Goals
To build a safe and loving home for orphans that provides holistic care for 150 local orphans that have no parents. We know that all children need love, that’s why our staff and volunteers are trained to the highest standards to provide optimum care in a family-oriented environment.
To provide each orphan child with nutritious food, clothing and medical care. The health and wellbeing of our children are of utmost importance! Our dedicated team will ensure the needs of all children, including those with disabilities are catered for.
To educate each of our children to the highest standards. Because we want our orphans to not only fulfil their potential, but to grow up and be empowered to shape the world around them!
To raise the standard of orphan care in this region. Many of the 600,000 orphans are cared for in institutions that have poor standards. Leading by example, we aim to raise standards by delivering a high quality project that will inspire other carers for orphans.
