Event: Great North Run 2017
In memory of Stephen Thompson

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I will be running the Great North Run in memory of my good mate Stephen Thompson.

Thomma tragically died in 2011 after developing Giant Cell Myocarditis. Whilst he was in hospital awaiting a heart transplant I promised him that I would GNR with him.

I previously hadn't run a mile and I did the Sunderland 10k in 2013 and the Sunderland Half Marathon 2014 in his memory.

A combination of injury and illness has kept me out of action since then and despite my knees about to give up, I am determined to do the GNR this year.

I won't be breaking any records or any PBs but I will get round.

Anything you donate will be gratefully receive and will force me round the course and not allow me to back out.

About the charity

‘The Stephen Thompson Foundation’ was set up in December 2011. Following the tragic death of Stephen, those close to him were left with an overwhelming need to do something to help and to keep his memory alive by turning sadness into something positive. http://www.stephenthompsonfoundation.org/
