My daughter Elfie was diagnosed with a lifelong genetic condition, Congenital Adrenal Hyperplaysia secondary to 3-beta Hydroxysteroid Dehydrogenase Deficiency (try saying that after a couple of wines) when she was a tiny baby. It's an incredibly rare disease of which little is known, and she is cared for by a wonderful team of Endocrinologists at Great Ormond Street. 

Seeing first-hand the amazing work they do not just for my family but for others has been the most humbling experience. The hospital is staffed by some incredible people, including our own Prof Hindmarsh, who has made it his life's work to unravel adrenal conditions like Elfie's so children like her can live happy and easy lives. This care and research is essential to families like ours, and is the reason Elfie is alive today. 

Anyone who knows me will know I'd rather do ANYTHING than run a marathon (I'd rather do anything than run for a bus), so fundraising this way for Great Ormond Street seemed like a wonderful way to give back. I'm more than terrified at the challenges ahead but SO excited to make a difference to a place that is very important to us.
