Many of you know that I have been running for this amazing charity for some time now, but that's because I believe in what they are doing and because they need private funding on an ongoing basis. I learned about Rett Syndrome through former St Mirren and Kilmarnock footballer Mark Reilly, who's daughter Dionne has Rett Syndrome, a neurological condition that could be broadly compared to locked in syndrome whereby those young girls that suffer from it initially show no signs of illness and develop ordinarily, before often seeming to degenerate at around a year of age, often never developing the ability to walk or talk in the most severe cases. The condition has actually been successfully reversed in clinical trials on mice with the condition, and it is believed that this might be the first neurological condition to be reversed on Humans during our lifetime. The charity is amazing, and driven by its founders, Andy and Rachel, who met through both of their daughters having Rett Syndrome, so are personally heavily invested and driven to being able to change these young girls lives for the better. With little state funding, private funding from activities such as what I'm doing is absolutely crucial to allow both the research and the charity to continue. Every pound helps! Thank you!! :-) Allan
