Story

Hi I am running two marathons, both the London Marathon and the Edinburgh Marathon, and in order to compete I need as many donations as possible. Between April and May 2010 I am running 52.4 miles, currently I am training in and around Milton Keynes. If you see me running with my tee shirt I am running for Willen Hospice just honk your horn, I need as much support as possible.

Well I have achieved the first marathon and what an amazing experience I would do this again, although feeling a little sore this am, well worth that medal being put around my neck, the british crowd were phenomenal, I did well up until mile 21 and I also had a cold, but my times were well on track, until my hip popped and had to powerwalk the last 5 miles, which I did with someone else, this put my times out by an hour but I did it, I am so proud and the tears just flowed over the finishing line because you know why and what you are doing this for. Onto the next one, just need to make sure that my hip remains fine, there are a few things that I would do different for the next one and can't wait.

Just to let you know that I have received so much offline support from friends and family as well with the biggest donation so far from Phillip Blacklaw for £300 9th April 2010 which was donated to the hospice for me running both of these marathons, thankyou so much, and many many thanks to all that have sponsored and supported me and in particular my husband Anton who has put up with my running and sore legs and muscles.

Training has gone well, so far have completed 17 miles twice, so on target with just over 2 weeks to go, nervous and excited about completing this momentous event and then again to do it all again in Edinburgh.

Willen Hospice is my chosen charity I am running for, they need as much as possible to keep going as they only receive about 25% funding from the government each year the rest is made up by the public donating so generously, they provide this care free to all who live within this area, so please please dig deep they need as much as possible each year their costs are £2.2 million so lets keep it going.

Willen provide care to anyone that needs it, in patient, the day hospice and hospice at home team, and they do a fantastic job. I am running these marathons for my father Michael Lovell who passed away 2006 with MND and my mother in law Gladys Huggett who was recently in there for 3 days she passed away October 2009, and also our best friend Barry Foster who passed away with December 2009 the care they provide to both patients and their families is second to none. Willen Hospice has always been my chosen charity.
