When my Mum was diagnosed with advanced bowel cancer back in 2009, I started running marathons to raise money for various cancer charities. The 2016 Loch Ness Marathon will be my 6th marathon, but the most poignant.

Sadly Mum lost her battle with cancer last October after a 6 year fight. She was without doubt the most courageous, compassionate and caring person I have ever known.

At her "Celebration of Life" service, I made a promise to run my next marathon for Marie Curie in return for the dedication and compassion shown by the Marie Curie nurses who tended to my Mum in her last few months and were there to help and support my Dad.

Words cannot express my gratitude for what they do. So please help me help others by raising as much as we can for these Angels.
