I will be doing the Great Birmingham Run on 21st October 2012 (13 Miles) along with my girlfriend Suzanna, in memory of her father Gordon Jones who sadly passed away only two weeks after finding out he had Pancreatic cancer.

For those of you who didn't know Gordon, he was the proud father of my amazing girlfriend Suzanna and her sister Jenna. He was such a lovely man and was nice to everyone he crossed paths with. Gordon was not just my girlfriend's father, but a good friend to me and will be forever missed by all, but never ever forgotten.

Gordon was admitted to 'A and E' in mid-June 2012 after having terrible stomach pains. It was only after two weeks of being in hospital that he was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. Sadly, the cancer had spread to his liver and he was told it was too late to operate. Gordon sadly passed away only two weeks after being diagnosed with this horrible horrible disease. I am doing this run in memory of Gordon and to raise awareness to others of how this charity needs donations as pancreatic cancer has such a poor survival rate.

Despite a 3% survival rate, pancreatic cancer (which is the 5th most COMMON cancer) has been little researched in the past. So there's been no improvement in 40 years. Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund is a new, dynamic charity dedicated to defeating the disease through cutting-edge research into early detection and new treatments.

Please sponsor me and help them find a cure for this horrible cancer that took Suzanna's father before his time.

I've set a target for 150 pounds, as this is the base sum i need to raise just to take part in the run. Anything over that amount would be absolutely amazing! Each penny counts, and with your help i'm hoping to smash that 150 mark.
