We fund research to stop prostate cancer killing men

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I signed up to run the London Marathon in a moment of madness following my completion of a half marathon last October!

I decided to use this unbelievably hard physical feat (the training has been endless!!) to raise money for and awareness of prostate cancer which my dear Dad died of in 2005.

He was diagnosed in 1995 and lived for 10 years with his illness. We owe so much of that precious time to the work of Prostate Cancer UK as at the time the charity was probably the only organisation dedicated to research into the disease and Dad benefitted from the newest treatments available then.

In addition, my father was a marathon runner himself. He was incredibly fit and ran in the Hong Kong, Shanghai and Macau marathons a number of times while we were living in Asia, competing in roasting temperatures and finishing in a sub 3 hour 45 minute time.

That’s quite a benchmark and I can say confidently that I will NOT be beating or even coming close to his time!

It was his dream to run in the London Marathon and he never got the chance so I'm following in his runner’s footsteps and doing it for him.

I want to raise as much money as possible for Prostate Cancer UK so they can continue their massively important work supporting people with the condition and their families as well as investing in new research.

So please donate now. Anything, however small, will make a difference!

Thank you.
