Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Please read our stories.

ANNE'S STORY    25 years ago Glynn and I were climbing a 3500m mountain in Switzerland when i fell, resulting in multiple major injuries. I was rescued by Air Ambulance and taken to the local hospital where they stabilised me before transferring me again by air ambulance to the intensive care department of Zurich hospital. I was in a coma for 3 days, and when I gained consciousness I had no memory of the accident just the pain and the broken bones. I would have died on that Swiss mountain were it not for my husband's emergency first aid and the air ambulance. To mark the 25th anniversary I decided to rise to the challenge of completing the P4P and raising money for a charity that saves so many lives.

GLYNN'S STORY   I wasn't going to do P4P again, ( I've done it 4 times before), but I had to rise to Anne's challenge. What is special this year is that one of the smaller charities also being supported is RUDDI'S RETREAT. Ruddi Waterworth is the 10year old grandson of my cousin Robert. When Ruddi was 6.5 months old he developed soft tissue cancer and he almost died during chemotherapy due to liver failure. His bladder and prostate were removed and since then he has had a urostomy bag. Ruddi spent 3 months in the USA having proton therapy and on return he developed Rickets and kidney failure which affected his bone development. All this before he was 4 years old!

In 2012 his mum, Ali, set up the charity Ruddi's Retreat to provide holidays for families with children suffering from cancer. Since then they have raised enough money to provide 2 static caravans and a 10 berth log cabin , plus Ruddi's Treatrooms, a  child friendly community cafe, and Getaway holidays  for families affected by dementia. How could we NOT meet the 315 mile cycle challenge for this amazing little boy's charity!

Please be generous and help us raise money for these worthwhile charities.l Thank you
