Why Anthony Nolan....

A friend's Mum had a very long, brave battle with cancer which sadly, like so many stories of this nature, ended in her passing away.

During the fight my friend told me of the courage his Mum had always shown and her determination to live. Anthony Nolan were instrumental in giving hope when my friend's Mum needed a bone marrow transplant. Although my friend's Mum unfortunately didn't have a happy ending to her brave fight, I've chosen to raise funds for Anthony Nolan because they were there for her, because they are in the business of giving hope to all those who need it and hopefully with support will give happy endings to more.

I hope that I am able to show just a fraction of the courage and determination that my friends Mum had shown, I hope I can find the never give up attitude that my friend and his family displayed every day during such difficult times while I train for and take part in The Edinburgh Marathon. My friend, you all have my love and respect and will be in my thoughts during the hard miles.

They do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells, to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. They also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond.
