Story
This run is in loving memory of Orla and my Brother Rocky xx
Running the London Marathon has always been a dream and bucket list item of mine! After years and years of applying and being unsuccessful I told myself that this will be my last shot and BOOM I was lucky to secure a spot for April 2024!
This will be my first ever marathon, I've done a few half marathons but never a fulI. I don't have a specific completion time my goal is just to finish and enjoy the race and to raise as much money as possible for my chosen charity Great Ormand Street.
Why GOSH - Childhood cancer is something that you never think would impact your children, but every week, around five children in the UK lose their lives to cancer. That’s five families who are faced with the worst news imaginable. Sadly last year my friend Adam Tuckwell lost his little girl Orla aged just 2 years and 8 months to childhood cancer.
Orla's family shared her journey via instragram (orla_thebossbaby) with regular pics, videos and updates. Watching this brave little girl battle this horrible illness was both heartbreaking but also inspiring, she fought hard with a smile on her face to the very end. Orla was whom inspired me to raise money for GOSH more specifically towards a new cancer facility the hospital are raising money to build. Orla's family are fund raising in order to have a new patient bedroom in the new cancer centre in Orla's memory. The money I raise will go towards that. The target is 100k lets dig deep and help the Tuckwells leave a legacy for their beautiful little girl :-)
