Story
Thanks for taking a look at our page.
On 3rd July 2016 our gorgeous Niece and Nephew, Sofia & Henry, were born at 27 weeks and 5 days (over 12 weeks premature). Kathryn and Tony were on holiday when her waters broke and she went in to labour. The twins were born at The Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro. Following the birth the babies were cared for in the Intensive Care Unit, however due to their extreme prematurity it was clear they would need to remain in hospital for many months.
In such cases, babies and older children are often transferred to more local hospitals, nearer their home, via road, meaning they can sometimes have to travel for many hours in vulnerable conditions. Thankfully, Sofia and Henry did not have to make their journey home by road...Lucy Air Ambulance for Children kindly facilitated their safe transfer to St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, flying Sofia from Newquay Airport to RAF Northolt and Henry to London Luton. They were cared for by professional staff, trained for in flight care, who work alongside the NHS to deliver the highest standards of service to give those they transfer the best chances of survival.
Lucy relies entirely on the generosity of its supporters and fundraising to provide this service. By running the London Marathon for this incredible charity we not only hope to help facilitate the transfer of other sick babies and children, but also to raise awareness and support for a wonderful service we knew nothing about until we needed them so very much.
Please dig deep and help us reach our target of £1800, every penny really does help and will be much appreciated.
Love Helen and Ben xx
