On 29th October 2015, we lost our son Ben shortly after he was delivered. A year and a half on, life has moved on as it must, and we are extremely lucky and fortunate to have welcomed our third son this year, Ben's little brother Thomas. Ben is always in our heart, thoughts and prayers and as a family we make sure that his memory lives on.
We are so lucky to have such a strong support network of family and friends who have supported us throughout and been our rocks when times have been particularly tough. Something we are eternally grateful for.
One other key support group which we started to go to was the Lily Mae Foundation. Soon after we lost Ben, Katherine and I started attending the informal group meetings where we were supported by other parents who had also suffered the tragedy of losing their babies. Heartache comes in many forms and for us, the Lily Mae foundation was there to help us come to terms with losing Ben and the foundation is still here for us.
We are raising sponsorship for them for this memory walk to help fund 'Memory boxes' (see picture), which contains several items to help build memories to remember little ones lost. The Memory boxes go out across the UK (and further afield) to bereaved parents. The foundation also provides support for vital research into stillborn and neonatal death as we all as supporting friends and family of bereaved parents who are often forgotten in the grief surrounding the loss of a baby.
