Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 13th April, 2019 I set out to run a 5k for 365 days straight. After running for 71 days I picked up an injury forcing me to stop and rehabilitate for a period of 5 weeks. I then decided to scrap the 71 days, re-design and re-launch my challenge. From 1st September 2019 I will be attempting to cover a distance of 5000 kilometers in a year by either running, riding, rowing or walking.
I am doing this to raise money and awareness for youth homelessness.
Being homeless means not having a safe place to call home. We know thousands of young people sleep rough every night, but there are thousands more sleeping on sofas, floors, night buses or with strangers – these are the “hidden homeless”.
Research revealed that in 2017/18, an estimated 103,000 young people approached their local authority because they were homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Centrepoint help vulnerable young people by giving them the practical and emotional support they need to find a job and live independently.
The homeless young people that go to Centrepoint stay there for up to two years. An amazing 86 per cent then move into their own homes, connect back with their families, get their first jobs or go to university.
I would really appreciate any contribution, no matter how small or large to help this worthwhile charity. Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you would like to know more about their work, please visit the Centrepoint website at centrepoint.org.uk
