Story

Mountain Rescue is so much more than mountains.  The volunteers of Edale Mountain Rescue Team are ready to turn out day and night to help people in trouble - not just outdoorsy people who've got lost or injured themselves, but also searching for missing/vulnerable persons, helping the ambulance service and providing assistance in snow and floods.  The give their time for free, and the running costs of £50,000 per year are entirely covered by donations.

On 31st May 2013 they turned out to scoop up Graeme after a climbing
accident at Stanage.  It was an anxious time, but knowing that EMRT were  on the scene was hugely reassuring: and they didn't seem to mind that he'd disturbed their Friday night!

I decided to do the 9 Edges Endurance to raise money for Edale Mountain Rescue Team, and persuaded some others to join me for company.  It's 20 miles long with 900 metres of ascent.  The route starts at Derwent Reservoir and takes in the gritstone edges of Derwent, Stanage, Burbage North, Burbage South, Froggatt, Curbar, Baslow, Gardoms and Birchen.

Our team has four walkers (Lauren, David, Jamie & Becky),  one runner (Ollie), and two climbers (Graeme & Andy, who'll be walking/running and climbing a route on each of the edges).

Thanks for your support!
