We promote youth work, evangelisation, education, communication, priestly and other vocations, family life, ecumenical and interfaith dialogues.

Story

Lourdes is a small town situated in the South of France in the Pyrénées near the Spanish border. It's been a place of pilgrimage since the Virgin Mary appeared to Bernadette Soubirous at the nearby Grotto of Massabielle in1858.
Yes, you may have heard that a tiny number of sick people have received miraculous cures at Lourdes but did you know that many, many more sick pilgrims have received the strength and fortitude just to cope with their illness.
Each year the Diocese of Leeds organises a pilgrimage to Lourdes, taking the sick and disabled there for a week in July.
Some sick or disabled people cannot afford to go to Lourdes so through this page you are invited to make a contribution towards making their pilgrimage a reality!
In return for your donation, on the 19th May I am going to walk over 25 miles.
Starting at St Peter's Church at Monkwearmouth, site of one of the earliest monasteries in England (674 AD.) I will travel South along the coast to Seaham Harbour. From there I will turn inland to take in the ruins of Finchale Priory which is situated on the banks of the River Wear near to Durham. Then on to Durham Cathedral itself where two of the great Northern Saints, St Bede and St Cuthbert, are buried.
It's my ABC walk.... Obviously 'B' is St Bede and 'C' is St Cuthbert..... Well 'A' is another of the Northern Saints, St Aidan, and I'll be making a slight detour by walking past my old school, St Aidan's in Sunderland. (See what I did there!)

I assure you all that your generosity will be remembered and a prayer for your intentions offered to Our Lady of Lourdes at the Grotto this year.
