Ge Aviation Welsh 3 Peaks Challenge · 14 June 2014 ·

Sadly, thousands of families in Wales live every day knowing their child’s life will be short. At the moment, they often face this without any care or support. Alone. Afraid. Isolated. Tŷ Hafan’s ambition is that when a child’s life will be short, no family should have to live it on their own.

We have now completed this year’s GE Aviation's Welsh 3 Peaks Challenge to raise money for the Ty Hafan children’s hospice.

The team comprises Phil Baxendale, Louise Baxendale, Trevor Bertrand, Cliff Bishop and Richard Clark.

The challenge, on the 14th June 2014, involved climbing the 3 highest peaks in North, Mid and South Wales; Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen Y Fan.

Starting at 4.15 am we completed the challenge in a total of 16½ hours. Snowdon took us 3 hours and 55 minutes to climb.  Although less in distance Cadair Idris took us 5 hours and 3 minutes, it was very steep up and down.  Pen Y Fan took us 1 hour and 53 minutes.  The rest of the time was taken up by driving, very safely, thank you Louise, between the mountains.
