Story

On 19th-20th June 2021, I am going to do the 4x4x48 challenge. I will run 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. This is the weekend before Covid restrictions are scheduled to be lifted in the UK. However, for many people who have lost loved ones to mental illness, life will never be "normal" again.

The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against suicide. Every week 125 people in the UK take their own lives. And 75% of all UK suicides are male.

Anyone can hit crisis point. CALM runs a free and confidential helpline and webchat – 7 hours a day, 7 days a week for anyone who needs to talk about life’s problems. They support those bereaved by suicide, through the Support After Suicide Partnership (SASP).

I am doing this in loving memory of Finn Kitson, the youngest brother of a very close friend. I hope this fundraiser will keep his memory alive, raise awareness about mental illness, and help fund the incredible work that CALM do in taking a stand against suicide.
