Story

Bury Community Choir and Encore (Bury Young Voices) - 'The Ultimate Manchester Mash-Up'

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Bury Community Choir was formed in 2013 by specialist music teacher Katie Geelan for people living and/or working in the Bury area. The choir are regularly asked to perform at a variety of events throughout the year, mostly in a fundraising capacity.

Encore,  also conducted by Katie, were known as Bury Young Voices at the time of the recording.  They are made up of young people from Bury Schools and Colleges and rehearse weekly at The Derby High School in Bury.

'The Ultimate Manchester Mash-Up' was created by Manchester arranger/composer Andrew.J. Smith. Both choirs have been performing it live for the past few years and  when they wanted to do something to remember all those who were affected by the attack on the Manchester Arena on 22 May 2017, recording the 'Mash -Up' seemed like the perfect solution.

The choirs joined forces with The Met (Bury) who offered their professional recording facility -  Edwin St Studios - and the expertise of engineer/producer Phil Bulleyment, free of charge.

Nearly all artists and their publishers have given the recording their blessing with many waiving some or all of their rights on the songs used. The artists whose songs feature in 'The Ultimate Manchester Mash-Up' are Elbow, The Verve, Courteeners, James, Heather Small, Stone Roses, Take That and Oasis.

The recording is offered as a free download but with the option of making a donation here, direct to the charity which is still supporting those affected.  Please give whatever you can, the minimum donation the JustGiving site allows is just £2.00.

We are aware that many people donated to the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund first time round so there is no obligation to do so again. Whether you choose to donate or not the download is free at the web address below.
