We support people to help rebuild lives after stroke.

Story

I shuffled the Great North Run in 2012 and raised £1000 for the Stroke Association thanks to generous donations from friends, colleagues and family. Yet further support is required to support their work and research into stroke. Every year an estimated 150,000 people in the UK have a stroke. That's one person every five minutes. Most people affected are over 65, but anyone can have a stroke, including children and even babies and Strokes Change Lives.

I am running the Great North Run 2013 in memory of my Dad who died a week after having a stroke in 2010 and to honour the hard work my father in law put into recovering from a stroke. I know from my occupation how relatives can feel that they lost their relative after a stroke even if they survived; or how many stroke patients feel that they have lost their confidence after a stroke. So I believe that the best thing I can do to honour both my Dad and my father in law is to raise funds for the Stroke Association to help support others to lead a full life after a stroke.
