Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Our brave little boy Max died of a malignant Ependymoma brain tumour on 28th September 2012 in GOSH, he was only 2 1/4 years old.

Sadly Max's tumour was not diagnosed untill it was too late, even though it was large and visible on a CT Scan on 23rd August 2012.  Delays in his diagnosis had a catastrophic effect leading to his death.

Brain tumours are the biggest childhood cancer killer. Currently, 1 child dies every 3 days of a brain tumour.  We need to act now to reduce disabilities and save the lives of children with brain tumours.

The Brain Tumour Charity is seeking support for a campaign called HeadSmart, which aims to reduce the time of diagnosis from an unacceptable average of 3 months to less than 5 weeks. Earlier diagnosis would bring the UK up to the same standards for childhood brain cancer as other European countries and the USA - improving quality of life and saving lives.

The funds received from this event will go to The Brain Tumour Charity and used to fund the HeadSmart project and future work on earlier diagnosis of brain tumours.

So please dig deep and donate now, with increased awareness hopefully another child or family will not have to suffer as we have.
