We raise funds for the NHS in Sheffield to improve the care of local neuro patients

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page

We've joined together to raise money for charity.

3 of us are taking on the challenge of riding around Brands Hatch for 24 hours each looking to hit the 400 mile mark. It's not a flat circuit... So it could be a tough one!

Why...?
We are raising money for Neuro care and supporting Zoe Roscoe in her fundraising. Now you wouldn’t know it because Zoe is a bright as a button, beautiful and intelligent in equal measure but she has been diagnosed with an Arteriovenous malformation. This was diagnosed a few years ago and thank god it was because if it hadn’t been, well lets not dwell upon that. She still struggles with the effects of the malformation on a daily basis and is undergoing regular treatment.

An AVM is an acquired brain injury that occurred at birth, a form of aneurysm where arteries shunt directly into veins instead of going through a bed of capillaries. Due to the location of the AVM Zoe has deteriorating left sided weakness, headaches and neurological difficulties which makes daily life quite difficult. In October 2014 she received the only treatment option that was available and this was Stereotactic Radiosurgery at the Royal Hallamshire Sheffield Hospital which will shrink the AVM over a period of time.

This treatment was not available 10 years ago in the UK so Zoe and her family are incredibly grateful!

Zoe is not out of the woods yet and to say thanks and support this fantastic charity she has dedicated the next few years to raising awareness for acquired brain injuries and giving back to all those who have supported her and made her one of the lucky ones!

So here it is, we have decided to support Zoe in her fund raising. Her strength of character and resilience that she demonstrates on a daily basis are inspirational and we I feel that it is time to help out in the best way that we can and ride our bloody bike as hard and as far as we can in 24Hours.

Any money raised will be donated to Neurocare Charity, a great project who provide vital funding for training/ equipment to support Sheffield Hospital neurology departments in treating patients with Aqcuired Brain Injuries.
