Chris Gassmann’s 100 Mile Sponsored Cycle Ride
Two years ago Chris and Patsy Gassmann’s friend [of 45 years] Mike, was playing golf. His voice started to slur. At first people thought that he had had too much to drink!! When the slurring didn’t stop he went to the doctor who referred him to have a check up at the local hospital. There was a suspicion that he had had a small stroke but this was disproved. After nine months of visits to specialists Mike was told that he had Motor Neurone Disease and that there was no cure. Since then there has been a gradual deterioration in Mike’s health. He can no longer speak or eat. He finds it difficult to hold his head up, has almost choked several times and finds walking difficult. Mike will probably not be with us by Christmas – little more than two years after the onset of the disease.
Chris is doing a sponsored cycle ride of a minimum of 100 miles on Sunday August 30th in aid of the M.N.D. Association, from Dorset to Cirencester. All sponsorship would be very gratefully received and donations can be made through www.justgiving.com.
