Story
For my Dad - Sadly I lost my kind, caring Dad Robert Hatton in 2013. He had bravely and successfully battled cancer for two years, but still in remission his liver and kidneys failed due to a rare condition PBC, a none alcohol related disease which slowly damages the liver. I won't go into detail but the end of life care was not put into place which meant he died in a horrible way. Seeing him like that will stay with me for the rest of my life, but I want to remember him and do this challenge for an inspiring man, who worked hard to provide for his family and to raise money for Liver disease research and support for anyone else who has a similar condition / story.
You can read more about my planned 630 mile solo bike ride, around Wales, on my team page below.
There are over 100 types of liver condition; some are very rare and many can't be prevented. 20% of the population is at risk of liver disease. There are many causes people don’t know about - it is completely misunderstood. The British Liver Trust supports patients and families, provides advice and information and works with doctors, nurses and other charities to improve patient care. We raise awareness of how to look after your liver, and we campaign for better diagnosis and more research. Thank you for your sponsorship.
