Story

This page has been created by Dominique (his daughter) and Christine (his wife). We lost our wonderful Lyndam recently, and we want to help the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre every bit we can.

After getting diagnosed with terminal lung cancer (non-smokers) in July 2013, the world became a different place for Lyndam and his family. He chose to  go through 'palliative' care, in which he went through chemotherapy, and later on radiotherapy.

The Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre were absolutely astounding, they supported him through the diagnosis, treatment and beyond. The staff there helped him come to terms with the disease, the diagnosis. But also helped him keep a positive glance on everything.

He adored going there throughout the week, whether it would be for Aromatherapy on a Tuesday, some lunch on a Wednesday, or a cup of tea on a Thursday. The Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre allowed Lyndam to enjoy the final parts of his life. To meet other people with cancer. He would come home and gush about all the people he had chatted to each day. It was a marvellous place for him, as he could go there and everyone there would know exactly what he was going through.

Lyndam was determined to go on holiday this year (2014). He had a fabulous time, painting at the pool, swimming in the sea etc. But he sadly passed away once we had landed back home. We are happy that his final memories were made with us (his family) on holiday, where he was so very happy to be.

Lyndam wouldn't have had the same experience if it weren't for the tremendous Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre. And we cannot thank them enough for what they have done, they provided the most incredibly attentive support for him. And we can never repay the care they provided.

The Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre is staffed by volunteers alongside medical professionals, they help provide support which is responsive to the wishes of patients, their families and friends. They provide information that is accurate and relevant to the individual. The centre is extremely welcoming, warm and friendly and we are so grateful to the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre for what they helped Lyndam through.

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page in his memory. Any donation, no matter the amount, will be incredibly appreciated and useful for other people suffering with cancer.
