On Sunday 10th March 2019, I am going to attempt running my first Half Marathon in Surrey.  To say I’m slightly apprehensive is an understatement, but I am determined to do it and I am doing it for a very
special person and a great cause…

As some of you may know my wonderful, gentle giant of a father-in-law the courageous Prof Brian Ellis, lost his battle to bowel cancer on Sunday 23rd December with his loving wife and daughter by his side, at the home that he proudly designed and was his dream to build.  His battle has been for 5 years but the last 2 have been particularly difficult for all the family.

As Christmas was just around the corner, the joy and celebrations were affected by our sad loss, but we also felt some relief and comfort that Brian was no longer suffering and was at peace.  My husband, Davey and I, even though we were in France, as a family, tried to keep the joy of Christmas alive for the kids, but there was an underlying feeling of great loss. Davey was able to fly back on Boxing Day to be with his Mum and sister to give them a big hug!!

The charity that I am running for, (as some of you may remember from my last charity run), will be the Swinfen Charitable Trust.  A charity that both Brian and Loveday, have a great passion for.  Both of them worked for them and Loveday still does.  They refer people all over the world who need medical help and attention.  To find out more about the charity, please take a look at their website.

Brian was an absolute gentleman and 2 weeks before he died, I told him that I would do my half marathon for Swinfen and of course I would do it in his honour and I have promised Davey that I will always run for his Dad and I hope that I can continue to do so for many years to come.

Thank you so much for any donation that you make, whether it's big or small.  We, the Ellis family are all very grateful and I know that Brian would also be extremely thankful for any money that the Swinfen Charity receive.
