Story
Colour Run For Cate
Me and my family are going to be participating in this years colour Run in Leicester on the 29th April 2018.
We will be running in loving memory of Cate. A family member who sadly lost her battle last year to Mental Health. Cate was just 13 years old when she lost her Mother , and just a few months later also tragically lost her brother. As a consequence, Cate had an ongoing fight with depression all of her life.
There was no help for people with mental health issues in those days as it wasn’t recognised as an illness. Cate was a warm welcoming wonderful woman who would always help others at a drop of a hat, and it is for that reason we are running for Laura’s Charity
Opened by the bereavement charity COPE in 1991, The Laura Centre offers specialist bereavement counselling to parents whose child has died and to children or young people who have been bereaved of a parent or significant person.
Based in Leicester, with centres also in Derby and Coventry, the centre offers wide ranging individual and group support as well as a variety of alternative therapies. We have recently started working with the Zephyr Project offering counselling services at Nottingham City Hospital.
If a wonderful charity like this existed all of those years ago For Cate, who knows what the outcome could have been. But if we can just help one person from our funds that we raise, what better tribute could we pay to the amazing woman that we all miss so dearly.
Thank you for your support
